What is Project Management?

What is a project? A project is an endeavor to achieve an objective, with limited time and money. They are different than operations in the sense that we don’t mean the routine things performed daily. In many ways the difference between projects and operations is not always obvious. Many times an operation will involve a series of many projects. What is obvious though is that quality projects have deadlines and they are accomplished when the project goals have been completed or when the project is dropped.

On this page the term ‘result’ will be utilized to mean any project result, whether it’s a changed item, event or process. Projects produce results like brand new car model designs, yearly spending plans, extraordinary gatherings, or other strategies. The utilization of the result and its worth after these undertakings are the fundamental support for the project.

That being said, what does it mean to be a project manager? It is the utilization of an wide arrangement of skills to start, plan, execute, control and close a project. The essential abilities are checking (i.e., portraying and concurring on task targets and prerequisites), planning, and assessing. Added to these important aptitudes are overseeing risk and vulnerabilities, overseeing quality, conveying clear messages, overseeing people, and teaming up with others, including suppliers of merchandise and others people who are influenced by this project. The general participants who are included or affected by a project are alluded to as stakeholders.

To make more sense of projects and project management, it’s helpful to take a framework’s view. This perspective means that everything is working in an arrangement of individuals, associations, objects and procedures. Change or movement in any way can have an impact somewhere else. The more one can anticipate the impact, the more prominent one’s control of the framework’s execution. In complex frameworks, nobody can ever anticipate the impact of actions with total precision. A project can be an intricate framework. Project management itself is additionally, a mind-boggling framework.

As shown in figure 1 underneath, is an image of project management as a framework. The Unified Project Management Methodology (UPMM™)is one of numerous perspectives being used today to depict the different exercises in overseeing projects.
